Scott & Patch

Thursday 3rd April 2008 - Patches came home with me today. He's going to spend the Easter holidays with me. We don't have any plans to go away anywhere, so I'm hoping that the weather will be nice so that Patches and I can do lots of fun things together.

Friday 4th April 2008 - We came off school for holidays at lunchtime today. Mum forgot to bring Patches to the Church service to hear me sing in the choir. When I got home, I got changed and went out into the garden with Patches and showed him around. I also took him in to my tree-house, so he could see my own little house. He thought the Tarantula was scary, but he liked my swings!

Sunday 6th April 2008 - Granda John came to pick me up today. He comes every Sunday and takes me out for a few hours. We try to do fun things like go to Sensations, Camperdown Wildlife Centre or even just for a walk along the beach. Patches enjoyed it too, but we only went to the Fun Factory so I didn't show him any of the animals at the Wildlife Centre. We stayed at my Gran's house at night. I like going to her house, because I'm allowed to walk up there on my own. I can get there without leaving my garden, so it's really safe. She lives in an old Lodge house that is actually an arch, so the bedroom is on one side of the road, the sitting room goes over the road, and the kitchen, bathroom and spare room are on the other side of the road!
Patches thought it was very cool. We got snuggled into bed and watched a DVD before snuggling down and going to sleep.

Monday 7th April 2008 - Daddy and Gran are both off today, so we had big plans to go for a long drive and take the dogs for a good long walk in the countryside, but the weather was horrible, so Daddy and I went fishing at Kingennie instead. Mum and Gran were going to come up to meet us for some lunch, but it was so freezing Dad and I gave up after about 3 hours and went home. We all went out for a pub lunch instead, and Patches said he quite liked where we had gone. When we got home, we were all so full, that I went and had a lie down in my room with Patches and we watched some tv.

Thursday 10th April 2008 - Mum's disappointed that the weather hasn't been better, because she had loads of things planned, but as most of them were outside things, we've not really had much of a chance to do them. Granda John came and took Patches and I out for lunch with my Step - Gran Fiona. We went to the Pancake Place and I had Macaroni Cheese and garlic bread - Patches said the smell of the garlic made his nose itch, but I really like it. Mum wasn't keen when I got home and gave her a kiss! Granda John took photo's of
me with Patches, but he used his new phone and he's not very good with things like that, so we are still trying to figure out how to get them to Mum's laptop.

Friday 11th April 2008 - Mum and Dad are going to a funeral this afternoon, so Gran has taken the day off to look after me. Gran came in to my house this morning and took our dogs for a huge walk through the park and then down and all the way along the beach, before struggling up the hill back home with them. Then we all went on what seemed like a Supermarket crawl! Mum took Patches into Pets At Home with us, I think he liked seeing all the toys and things. After lunch, Gran and I went down to Orchar Park with my bike so I could get some more practise. I put Patches in my backpack so he could enjoy it too. There are no flat bits of grass in our garden, and our drive and street are really steep, so I can't really cycle much there. Patches liked the swings and other stuff in the play park too. Poor Gran had to push my bike all the way back home again, and it's all up really steep hills! Mum and Dad had left for the
funeral when we got back home, so I packed my overnight bag and Gran and I took the dogs back up to her house. Patches is beginning to feel quite at home there too.

Saturday 12th April 2008 - Today is my Step - Cousin Aidan's 1st birthday party. He's actually one tomorrow, but the party is today. Mum got him some lovely books for his birthday and I'm going to read them to him until he's able to read himself. I was the only older boy at the party, and I decided to leave Patches in the car in case any of the younger children tried to take him and keep him - didn't want any tantrums to spoil the party! Once again, Granda John took some pictures, but he still hasn't quite figured out how to send the pics to Mum!

Sunday 13th April 2008 - Bathnight. Mum wanted me to have an early night because Sports Camp starts at Mayfield tomorrow, and nothing get's me off to sleep like a nice bath! Mum persuaded me not to have Patches actually in the water with me, but at least he thought my hair looked funny all stuck up in spikes on my head! Off to bed, very sleepy.

Tuesday 15th April 2008 - Been at Sports Camp yesterday and today.
Had a really great time. Patches thought it looked a great place for a Teddy Bear's Picnic, but Mum told him he might get run over by the lawn-mowers that are preparing the grass for the running track. Mum tried to take a photo of me and Patches, but her camera went wonky on her. Hope she can get it working in time for more pics for this diary!

Thursday 17th April 2008 - I've been at Sports Camp again. It's been good fun, and I'm learning some really cool things. Mum managed to get her camera to work for about 5 mins and got a pic of Patches in the car. Only one day of Sports Camp left, so I hope it'll be good.

Sunday 20th April 2008 - Phew! Busy day. This morning, Daddy went fishing, so Mum, Gran and I took our two dogs and my bike and we walked from my house down to the Ferry the long way, all along the beach from the Castle to the Rock Garden, through the Nature Reserve, past Reres Park and all the way along Camphill Road home!! We fed the dogs and ourselves then cycled/walked to the shops on Claypotts Road and then walked/cycled back allong Balgillo Road home again. We are all very tired, especially Mum because she had to push my bike when the roads got too steep or busy for me. Mum's going to chuck me in the bath tonight, then I'll have an early night so that I am all ready for school in the morning.

Patch’s Christmas trip to South-West France

The day after school finished for Christmas, Patch travelled through the fog and snow to Prestwick Airport to catch a flight to Girona in north Spain. A drive across the French border took him to the historic medieval town of Carcassonne.

After Carcassonne Patch travelled on to the city of Pau which is wonderfully located near the Pyrenees and also near the Atlantic coast and the beautiful seaside towns of Biarritz or St Jean de Luz. So he had the choice of a stroll on the beach or sledging in the mountains.

Patch stayed in a house with beautiful views of the mountains.

Patch found the sledging high up the mountain a bit cold, but he enjoyed the hot chocolate in the bar afterwards.

Another day Patch had a picnic in a mountain meadow in glorious sunshine

The south-west of France is famous for its ducks and not surprisingly they find their way onto the dinner table. For Christmas dinner Patch had a local specialty called “Canard Royale” which is a whole duck with all its bones removed stuffed full of foie gras. The is cooked at a high temperature for a short time so that the out-side is lovely and crispy, but the foie-gras remains firm inside. Patch even enjoyed a very small glass of local Jurancon wine to wash it down.

Unlike in Dundee the sun was shining and it was warm enough on Christmas day to sit outside and make a daisy chain!

Patch and Cameron's Weekend

I had a very quiet week at Cameron’s because his mum was in hospital. I visited the hospital and I even visited the endoscopy room where Cameron’s dad works .I kept Cameron company and watched over him in the night. We listened to Charlie and the Great Glass elevator .I enjoyed the part when the vicious kinids attacked the Americans. In the morning Cameron’s little brother Callum was quite annoying because he woke us up from our lovely sleep.
I met lots of visitors this past week including Cameron’s nana and papa and aunty. I was well looked after and will be sad to return to school.

Patch’s Visit

At the weekend I took Patch home and Sophie came for a sleepover. When Sophie unpacked we played a game with my Egyptology book. Patch was the explorer and found other friends.
When it was teatime my brother Campbell got his soup and bread. Patch ate up his as fast as you could imagine. Then we went to bed. Sophie and I were very tired so we got to sleep quickly.
In the morning when I woke up Patch was awake, but Sophie was still asleep so I shoved and shoved Sophie until she finally said, “Stop doing that!” When Sophie went home I went to my Church party. It was great fun and I won lots of prizes.
I went home and Patch helped to decorate our Christmas tree. Patch go tired out in only one minute. He thought he would have a rest in my Christmas stocking! Patch slept there all night and before he knew it was time to go back to school
